The Charming Beautiful Golden Brooks

Golden Brooks

Golden Brooks in her award winning role as Karen in the movie "The Inheritance"
Here's one of my personal favorite celebrities to write about.   This remarkable charming woman Golden Brooks. I will refresh your memory if you are pretending you don't know her.  No one could've made the saying " Oh, hell No" more famous than Ms. Brooks delivery of that very famous line as she brought the character Maya Wilkes to life on the popular TV series "Girlfriends" (one of my favorites) .  She has over 34 films (including TV series) some of her most recent work:  The Inheritance (which she received an award for her performance as best actor), CW's Hart of Dixie, TV movie Second Chance Christmas and reality series Hollywood Diva's.  She currently has several movies that are to be released in 2015    I've been lucky enough to have personal interaction with her on twitter and she is one of the most kind , real and humble persons anyone could meet.  We fans have such a blessing to actually get to have contact with.  Harsh but true most celebrities could take lessons on being the type of person Golden is.  If you want to say hey or just wish her well go on over to her twitter @therealgolden47  https://twitter.com/therealgolden47
Golden's Instagram  https://instagram.com/therealgolden47/?hl=en
She is the mother of a one daughter.
I just want to say thank you for being such a great inspiration with your class and style.

Variety Magazine March 4,2015

http://variety.com/

Title read:

"Networks Turn Up the Volume on Minority Actors This Pilot Season"

And yes this was true Pilot after pilot picked up African American actors and actresses about 73 which half were cast in leading roles).  Casting Director's weren't completely convinced with ABC's Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. But after record breaking views for Fox's Empire I think someone got the message. African American's matter in this TV ratings game. A few of the pilots that added African American cast members.

Latoya Luckett joins NBC's "Love is a Four Letter Word"

Lesley-Ann Brandt joins Fox's "Lucifer"

Mike Epps lands lead role in ABC's Uncle Buck as Uncle Buck

Malcolm Jamal Warner (great to see him land one) Fox's "48 hours til Monday"
I'll be posting more of the pilots and cast members soon.  Congratulations to all.  Ok now it would be great to see Casting directors making the same moves with African Americans in leading Blockbuster Movies. You have to know we spend big bucks at the cinema you want to see us come out do what you are doing with the TV pilot casting.  Just drop all of the stereotypical stuff its about time you stop pretending you don't know how classy and wonderful we really are:).

Regina King Shines As Character Aliyah Shadeed In ABC"s American Crime TV Series

Regina King talents shined through out her work on shows such as Southland, The Gabby Douglas Story, and The Big Bang Theory.  But Ms. King recently took on a role that was a bit out of her familiar craft when she recently joined the cast of American Crime as a devout Muslim character named Aliyah Shadeed who views circumstances by her religious views. When the episode aired there wasn't any doubt Regina had given yet again an outstanding portrayal of another character. She had become Aliyah Shadeed ( you didn't doubt she would did you?).  You can find out more about Regina King's new series American Crime just follow the link: http://abc.go.com/shows/american-crime you can also tweet her and let her know how much you enjoying her portrayal of Aliyah Shadeed..

Thank you again Regina for another great series to follow your talents. (I've missed you since Southland)

Shonda Rhimes TV's Most Talked About Hit TV Series Writer

Shonda Rhimes name has become one of the most written about and talked about TV writers.  Ms. Rhimes has become a shining light in the African American community with her creative talent and ability to get African American actors who do not fit what the industry believes is the "American Ideal look" starring roles. If her name doesn't ring a bell for you yet (not sure where you have been) but her hit TV shows should, familiar with these? Greys Anatomy, Scandal starring Kerry Washington and my personal favorite How to Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis.  A quote from Ms. Rhimes from her interview with people Mag after being told she "diversified TV" her take on her role in the TV entertainment industry " I am making TV look like the way the world looks."
you can read more of Ms. Rhimes People Mag interview here:
